CEO & Executive BoD Member, Sunlight Group Energy Storage Systems, Greece
Sunlight Group is a global technology company, and manufacturer of batteries for industrial mobility and advanced Energy Storage Systems. The company owns and operates the largest Gigafactory in the world for motive power batteries in Xanthi, northeastern Greece – one of its 15 plants and 35 facilities in total across 14 countries. These facilities are being constantly upgraded via significant investments to further automate production and maximize output.

Sunlight’s industrial complex in Xanthi has the capacity to annually produce 9 GWh and assemble 300,000 complete batteries. These innovative products are exported to 115+ countries worldwide and serve the needs of very demanding sectors, including the intralogistics sector, the first to become electrified and in which Sunlight carries over 30 years of expertise and has an extensive customer base of all major OEMs.

Sunlight Group “eats and breathes R&D” with 5 dedicated R&D hubs, where our scientific team of 200 experts explore different battery technologies to continue diversifying our portfolio. Currently, the company’s expertise lies in the development, production, and dissemination of innovative lead-acid and lithium-ion batteries for industrial mobility, leisure mobility, and energy storage systems.

Committed to global sustainability goals for energy transition and safety, as well as the principles of circular economy, Sunlight aims for the full vertical integration of its Ecosystem. This target is already achieved in terms of lead-acid production: from recycled raw material, produced in our own Lead Recycling plant in Komotini; to components and trays, produced in our facility Sunlight Technosystems in Kilkis; to cells and their assembly into modules and batteries in various facilities worldwide; to sales and after-sales services – including the offering of chargers and IoT solutions; to the collection of spent batteries, and back to recycling. A complete 360 o approach. To that end, Sunlight has also executed a series of M&As aiming at geographical expansion and vertical integration, as well as organic growth.
